Bashar Al-Assad

Right one more time!

As I already have predicted it on 16 March 2012, last Tuesday, capturing another seven-year term in the middle of a bloody three-year-old uprising against his rule that has devastated the country, Bashar Al-Assad, has been re-elected.

While Russia defends Al-Assad reelection as fair, the opposition and its Western allies, including the United States, have denounced the election as a farce.

What do I think?

Hilary would have made a better president and, this will be a never-ending story.

Will Hilary run?

WHAT to do when the party you have been backing loses sway?

That is the question facing Western supporters of the Syrian National Coalition. The rise of jihadists and the worsening sectarian strife in Syria is now putting Western backers of the rebel opposition in some kind of a quandary. As the jihadists are gaining in strength, some Western officials are now starting to advocate some form of political re-engagement with Bashar Assad, while others think the only course left is to work with devout Islamists who reject the extremists but who nonetheless refuse to be part of the coalition previously backed by the West. With negotiations forecasted to start on January 22^nd, Western governments are still puzzling over which military factions to back on the ground.

The direct cause of this political mess is the actual growth of al-Qaeda affiliates in Syria. The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (Greater Syria), known as ISIS, the most ruthless of the groups, has spread across northern and eastern Syria, while another al-Qaeda group, Jabhat al-Nusra, still thrives. This has caused and still is causing alarm in Western capitals and among Syrians who mutter that the extremists may be even worse than a regime that has used fighter jets, barrel-bombs and chemical warfare against civilians. With Russia and Iran doggedly behind him, al-Assad has stood and still is holding firm.

Without any form of structured opposition, with all factions fighting one against the other, al-Assad will maintain power as long as he wants and there is nothing the western world can do about it.

Bashar to Obama: “Why don’t you shut up and just mind your own business … ”

No luck Tayyip Erdogan

WASHINGTON – Like my 5 years old would say, “I guess Mr. Barack received the message from Mr. Al-Assad: Why don’t you shut up and just mind your own business … you are so full of hot air!”

Taking a cautious line at a joint news conference with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, Obama said yesterday he reserved the right to resort to both diplomatic and military options to pressure Syrian President Bashar al-Assad but insisted that U.S. action alone would not be enough to resolve the Syrian crisis.

Erdogan had been expected to push Obama, at least in private, for more assertive action but Obama made no mention of deeper engagement. “What we have to do is apply steady international pressure,” Obama said.

Earlier on Thursday, Turkish President Abdullah Gul criticized the world’s response on Syria as limited to “rhetoric”. Turkey has been one of Assad’s fiercest critics, throwing its weight behind the uprising, allowing the rebels to organize on its soil and sheltering 400,000 refugees.

Do I hear you!

UNITED NATIONS — Wednesday May 15, 2013 will be remembered as a critical date in the resolution of the Syrian conflict: A nonbinding resolution was passed by the UN calling for a political transition to end the civil war there, putting the onus on the government of President Bashar al-Assad to stop the killing.

Acknowledging the total uselessness of this resolution as well as their functions, the 193 overpaid useless pathetic members of the general assembly recognized that, like their every other diplomatic useless non-realistic initiative regarding Syria, their new repeated approach would probably fail to stem the violence or coax out a political solution.

Only 59 out of the UN members had enough sense or decency not to take part in this grotesque display of political nonsense and diplomatic as well as personal insanity or senility. The resolution passed 107 to 12, it fell far short of the 133 votes in support of a similar resolution last August. The 59 abstentions reflected the widespread sentiment that the new absolutely useless repeated initiative will not help in any way to solve the Syrian conflict.

Even my little 5 years old can understand that!

Obama, a president without leadership

Barack Obama

Nearly five months second term, none of his projects from his first mandate have been completed and he has already lost control of his second term agenda, if he ever had one in the first place. His future as a comedian is more promising than his political career.

Much rhetoric and not very much action, Obama seems to suffer from an incurable form of verbal diarrhea. Maybe, like he already suggested, he should just pack up and go home. Many now tend to believe him when he says that his job is very difficult: intelligence sharing “this is hard stuff”, closing Guantanamo “It’s a hard case to make”, Republican governors blocking his health-care law’s implementation “that makes it harder” and responding in Syria “it is a difficult problem” he says.

Well Mister president, if you cannot stand the heat, maybe it is time for you to step out of the kitchen, what I believe you have already done.

Obama: We do not have any business in Syria!

Barack Obama

US president Barack Obama said on Friday he does not foresee a scenario in which he would send US troops to Syria. However, if Syria is found to have used chemical weapons, he will be considering sending lethal aid to Syrian rebels he said, before adding: any additional steps taken by the United States, will be based on the facts on the ground in Syria and what is in the best interests of the American people and US national security. He also stressed out that he would not be pressured prematurely into a deeper intervention into Syria.

A New York Times/CBS News poll released last Tuesday found that 62 percent of Americans believe the United States has no responsibility to do anything about the fighting between Assad’s forces and anti-government rebels confirming my opinion and most certainly Obama’s opinion that the USA does not have any interest or business whatsoever in the Syrian conflict. This is the only reason why Obama has repeatedly shied away from any other than diplomatic US involvement in the Syrian conflict. This is Obama, a lot of hot air, a lot of showmanship and very little if no action.

Yes indeed, Obama will either go down in history has one of the most indecisive or most clever president the United States never had. No matter the judgment of time, his presidency is and will stay one of a lot of hot air and very little action.

123 Millions U.S. for the Syrians Rebels

The United States has approved providing Syrian rebels with $123 millions in new non-lethal aid.

The United States has approved providing Syrian rebels with 123 millions dollars in new non-lethal defensive aid that have not been part of the assistance package in the past. The non-lethal defensive assistance could include body armour, night vision goggles, armoured vehicles, and advanced communications equipment.

While the Syrian opposition said that the increase in aid was a step forward, the opposition is also saying that the nature of the support coming from the West remains “very limited” compare to their original demand for… “Some tactical weapons to be able to even the playing field and be able to cope with the massive weaponry that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had.”

Everything considered the decision of the United States and its allied not to provide offensive lethal armaments to the rebel is a very good decision since nobody wants to help terrorist and Jihadists, no matter the reason why.

While the US is prepared to provide a major boost in non-lethal military equipment assistance, European nations considered changes to an arms embargo that would allow arms transfers to the Syrian opposition, which would be insane. Why would you provide Terrorists, Islamists and Jihadists with armaments such as drones and missile capability as per their original demand?

To have them turn against you tomorrow!

The United Nations estimates that the fighting in Syria has killed more than 70,000 people.

Israel can attack Iran anytime!

Benny Gantz: Israel can attack Iran on its own anytime

“Israel’s army is capable of attacking Iran on its own without foreign support” says Israeli Chief of Staff Benny Gantz.

Asked if Israel’s military could wage attacks “alone” against the Islamic republic, Gantz replied: “Yes, absolutely. We have our plans and forecasts… if the time comes we’ll decide on whether to take military action against Tehran.”

In a separate interview, Gantz said the possibility of an Israeli strike on Iran was not imminent, and that sanctions imposed by the international community should be given priority to stop Tehran’s nuclear drive.

In a third interview, with Israeli military radio, Gantz also warned of the security threat posed by neighbouring Syria’s civil war: “The rebels are for now engaged in combat against the army of President Bashar al-Assad, but it’s clear there will be a second war, possibly between current opponents of Assad, or possibly directed at us.”

Syria and North Korea dominating G8 meeting

Kerry did not make any promises

As the G8 foreign ministers are holding a second day of talks in London focusing on Syria and North Korea, the US Secretary of State John Kerry, as predicted and expected, especially since some of the Syrian opposition leaders recently pledged their allegiance to Al-Qaeda, did not make any promises as the same Syrian opposition leaders renewed their appeals for lethal aid.

Western and Middle Eastern nations supporting the opposition will meet in Turkey on April 20, where US Secretary of State John Kerry will attend the meeting of the so-called Friends of Syria “core group” in Istanbul. My personal belief, considering that the G8 consist of the US, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada and Russia, is that the Syrians are going to have to fight their own war.

North Korean threats of war are also high on the agenda of the G8 talks.

Jérusalem, le 27 janvier 2013 – Le premier ministre israélien Benyamin Nétanyahou a indiqué dimanche, le 27 janvier qu’il voulait former un gouvernement «large» et «stable» afin de faire face aux «importantes menaces» visant Israël, provenant notamment de l’Iran. «La région entière est secouée par la violence et nous devons être prêts, forts et déterminés face à toute éventualité», déclare Nétanyahou. «Je vais donc m’efforcer de constituer le gouvernement le plus large et le plus stable possible afin de faire face à toutes les importantes menaces sécuritaires qui visent Israël.»

Évoquant la journée internationale à la mémoire des victimes de la Shoah, il a accusé les dirigeants iraniens de «nier l’existence de l’Holocauste tout en préparant ce qu’ils croient être le prochain Holocauste: la destruction de l’État juif et, en remet : «Ils n’arrêtent pas leur course incessante et systématique pour obtenir des armes nucléaires afin d’y parvenir. Nous ne prenons pas ces menaces à la légère et nous les empêcherons, c’est notre première priorité en tant que gouvernement et en tant que peuple», a assuré Nétanyahou.

Malgré les démentis des autorités iraniennes, menaçant même Téhéran de frappes «préventives», Benyamin, comme toujours, insiste sur la menace représentée par l’accession de l’Iran au nucléaire militaire et souligne la nécessité “d’observer ce qui se passe en Iran et en Syrie. Selon certains, le premier ministre israélien aurait déjà entrepris des discussions avec les chefs des agences de sécurité israéliennes et ses principaux ministres en ce qui concerne la question Syrienne et la possible existence d’un stock d’armes de destruction massive qui y serait entreposé.
